An early 20th century Iraqi silver and niello dressing table box, circa 1920 signed Omara, Salih
Of circular form with a gently domed pull off lid, raised on three pad feet. The lid with a niello scene of the Mosque of the great Imam Abu Hanifa al in Nu'man, Baghdad within an encircled square, heightened with engraved decoration. The sides with niello decoration of the Taq Kasra (Ruins of Ctesiphon), possibly the Tomb of Hadrat Sheikh Marouf al Karkhi, Baghdad, as well as camels, palm trees, sailing boats and a boatman in a gufa. Plain interior. Signed to side.
