THIRTEEN BRASS OIL LAMPS AND A TUBULAR BRASS ELEMENT
PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE GERMAN COLLECTION
India, late 19th - 20th century
Comprising five oil lamps of bulbous shape, resting on a short straight foot, two with gadrooned bodies, the largest 8.3cm x 8.5cm high; one of small bulbous shape, standing on three flat feet, rounding to a thinner neck and everted rim, the body with three cusped horizontal flanges, attached to one flange a chain linking to a stopper surmounted by a peacock standing on a lotus flower, 11cm high; one of square shape, with a flat base and shoulders tapering to a cylindrical neck, with a small semi-circular handle to the body, 7.3cm x 7cm; five oil lamps of domed shape, resting on flat bases and with semi-circular handles to the body, 8cm x 7.3cm; and a short ringed tubular brass element, possibly a candlestick, with a flat base, 13.cm high.
