A SILK IKAT HANGING
Possibly Bukhara, Uzbekistan, 19th century

The vertically joined lengths of delicate silk ikat in pink, purple, and yellow on off-white weft with a repeating ‘eye’ pattern, edged in green bias tape, lined in two joined roller-printed Russian cotton lengths of off-white ground, ikat loom width 26.5cm excluding the selvedge, cotton backing width 56cm, 207cm x 133.5cm.
