A set of mid-19th century German unmarked silver gilt fruit eaters, circa 1860
Comprising six fruit forks, six fruit knives, the blades engraved with a crest of an aged lowland scots countryman couped at the knees, bearing on his shoulder an ox-yoke, all surmounted by a Viscounts coronet. The German porcelain handles of pistol form painted with figures in 18th century dress, a musician to one side and a lady to the other. (12)

The crest is for Hay-Drummond, a borne by the Earls of Kinnoull
Probably for George Hay-Drummond, 12th Earl of Kinnoull (1827 – 1897), styled as Viscount Dupplin until 1866 or possibly his son Archibald FitzRoy George Hay, 13th Earl of Kinnoull (1855 – 1916), styled Viscount Dupplin from 1886 until 1897.
