A heavy Alexander II Russian Provincial 84 zolotnik (875 standard) silver beaker, Odessa 1864 marked ГEPБCTЪ for Herbert Herest of Mitava

the tapering cylindrical body upon a octo-form concave base. The body engraved to one side with a coat of arms with another on an escutcheon of pretence, surmounted by a count’s coronet and two helmets with crests, all within a robe of estate. The obverse engraved Rudolf in gothic script and 28 December 1864 in cursive script. Fully marked to the base with assayers mark of Vasily Matveevich Lapshin (active 1852-63), Herest’s mark twice one of which overstriking that of another probably for ГЦ (unidentified, active 1863-1907, possibly G. Tsitrin). Also, with standard mark near rim.
