Neil Libbert's portrait of George Best was taken on 20 October 1965, when Libbert was tasked with photographing the footballer for a Sunday Times 'Day in the Life' story. Best was 19 years old at the time, and had been playing for Manchester United for about two years; Hunter Davies and Libbert accompanied Best for a day around Manchester, here in his Sunbeam Alpine sports car.
