A Louis XVI late 18th century French silver snuff box, Paris 1789, makers mark unclear possibly Louis-Francois-Auguste Taunay

Of oval form, the lid with stand-away hinge. Decorated with engraved and flat chased garlands with guilloche borders, the centre of lid with inset painted portrait miniature on ivory of a portly gentleman in a red coat, glazed. Gilt interior. Fully marked with charge mark of Jean-Francois Kalandrin (reg. Feb 23rd 1789).
