the first of circular form, depicting Mary Somerville after Lawrence Macdonald (1799-1878), shown in profile wearing a laurel leaf headdress, signed 'L. MACDONALD F.' to the edge of her shoulder, inscribed 'MARY SOMERVILLE MEDALIST 1869', and stamped 'F. BARBEDIENNE & CIE' to the edge, the other relief depicting Richard Congreve in profile, inscribed 'ETEX 1858' and signed 'A. Gouge Fondeur a Paris', of oval form,
