An early 18th century German silver counter dish or cup stand, Augsburg 1716-19 by Elias Adam (master 1704 died 1745)

Of circular form with gadrooned rim, the centre with an applied concentric fluted boss, the broad edge with flat chased decoration of strapwork and foliate scrolls, against a textured ground. Marked to reverse with maker mark (EA in an oval), town mark and assay scrape.

Diameter – 9.5 cm / 3.75 inches

Weight – 40 grams / 1.29 ozt

Mark: Rosenberg 810

Elias Adam is particularly noted for his silver mounted wares, often upon Meissen porcelain

This is possibly a saucer for a porcelian cup or a Kiddish cup stand
