A mid- 19th century Ottoman Turkish 900 standard silver snuff box, Tughra of Sultan Abdulmejid I (1839-61)

Of rectangular form with canted corners, the lid embossed with two hearts with two doves with a basket of flowers between, flanked by shells and strapwork. Marked with sahh and tughra (post-1844) to the underside and front of lid, assay scrape to the underside and the side.

Length – 6.7 cm / 2.65 inches

Weight – 67 grams / 2.15 ozt
