Colour on canvas, depicting the blue-bodied Protector of Bhutan also known as the Glorious Goddess galloping on her mule over a sea of blood, holding a staff and a kapala, surrounded by blue flames and four figures representing the respective seasons, each on their mount, all beneath smaller figures of lamas and auxilliary deities, 77 x 55cm.

The myth about Palden Lhamo tells a story of endless compassion for sentient beings: married to a fierce enemy of Buddhism and persecutor of its followers, failing to convert him she decided to end his dynasty, killed their son and used his flayed skin as a saddle whilst fleeing her husband's kingdom.
