A late 16th century German silver gilt tazza or comport, Augsburg circa 1590 by ‘S’ (untraced)
Of circular dished form upon an inverted baluster stem with a spreading domed foot. The bowl section with flat chased decoration of bands of acanthus leaves, centred with a raised and chased laurel band. The foot with flat chased acanthus band. Marked to the foot rim edge with town mark (Selling 16) and maker’s mark of an S in a shield shaped punch.
