A mid-20th century Iranian (Persian) 900 standard silver cigarette box, Isfahan circa 1960 mark of Mohammad Taqi Zufan (1894-1979)
Pahlavi dynasty, of rectangular form with a hinged lid raised by a simple thumbpiece with a cavetto edge, the top engraved with famous buildings of Isfahan; Ali Qapu Palace and the Shah Mosque within a scalloped cartouche reserved with engraved ghalam zani decoration of scrolls and ring punching. The sides with engraved ghalam zani decoration of peony vignettes flanked by long tailed birds reserved with ring punching. Marked to interior corner of lid with workshop mark and standard mark (۹۰۰).
