A PAIR OF INDIAN CHHAJJA EARRINGS CAPARISONED WITH SEED PEARLS
Northern India, 19th and 20th century
Made from a pendant or ornament of a much bigger pair of earrings, consisting in a green-enamelled umbrella-shaped (chhajja) top with stylised lotus flower scrolls, with several strands of seed pearls drooping from the centre of the top element, and terminating with green beads and metal thread knots, the hooks a later addition, each 4.4cm long.
