A late 18th century Maltese silver coffee pot, circa 1770 by Giuseppe Farrugia (reg. 19th Nov 1768)
Pinto period, of baluster form all upon three hoof feet with cartouche and laurel wreath junctions. The hinged domed lid raised by an upturned scroll thumbpiece, all surmounted by a detachable finial formed as a flower with calyx of lozenge textured cut sheet. The ebonised C scroll handle affixed by an upper junction of circular rosette discs opposite a short cast spout with laurel detailing. Makers mark G.F (variant of Farrugia p.239 fig. 104a), standard mark (Farrugia p.221, fig 21.2), Carlo Troisi mint mark (Farrugia p.228, fig 2), to underside, lid bezel and to thumbpiece.
