FOSSIL: EXTINCT CAVE BEAR(URSUS SPELAEUS) SKELETON PAW
Pleistocene, 55 million years old, under a glass dome,
paw 29cms long by 15cms wide. Dome 52cms tall. Base 24cms diameter.
This large skeletal paw of an extinct cave bear, is presented on a brass post within a Victorian glass dome with ebonised base, finished with gold rope-twist trim.
The Cave Bear lived in Europe and Asia during the Pleistocene and became extinct 24,000 years ago. This specimen is ~55,000 years old, and was collected from a cave in Romania.
