A mid-18th century German silver ewer and basin, Augsburg 1759-61 Adolf Carl Holm (b. 1718, meister 1755, d.1768)
The ewer of wyrthen baluster form upon an oval pedestal foot with a wrythen central knop, the everted spout opposite a triple C scroll handle with shell form mid-section. The basin of oval form with a shaped moulded rim, shaped raised sides. The basin and front of ewer engraved with a coat of arms surmounted by a helm with a crest, all within foliate mantling. Marked to the front of basin and foot rim of ewer with town mark with date letter O (Seling 241) and maker’s mark ACH (Seling 1768), and assay scrape (tremolierstich) underneath to both. (2)
