An early George III sterling silver fish slice, London 1763 by Paul Callard (reg. 8th Jan 1752)
Old English pattern, virginal erased. The spade shaped blade with pierced decoration of nought-cross and foliate scrolls. Fully marked to stem.
Length – 30.5 cm / 12.15 inches
Weight – 150 grams / 4.82 ozt
The Callard family were prolific manufactures of flatware in the mid-18th century, starting with Paul’s father Isaac who first registered a mark on the 7th February 1726. Paul Callard died in 1768.
