A BRONZE HAMSA DUCK OIL LAMP FINIAL
Possibly Karnataka or Tamil Nadu, South India, 17th - 18th century
Of typical circular shape with four extruded cusped oil trays, resting on a gently everted circular foot, rising to a ringed neck surmounted by a Hamsa duck with flame-like tail and a seated female figure, heavily bejewelled and wearing a tall headdress, possibly an apsara or a goddess-like figure inspired by the Hindu Goddess of Knowledge, Saraswati, 26.8cm high.
