Cable (George Washington)
Autograph letter signed ('G.W. Cable') to Mr James MacArthur, thanking him "for the correction as to Dr Nicoll. You are very kind to take so much trouble", with additional note in Cable's hand saying "I ought to have told you the other day that the picture I handed you is Miss Cable's private property and I am afraid to go home without bearing some verbale pledge that it shall be again forthcoming, by and by, in good order. But your silence will be reassurance enough, at present", one page, folding marks, age-related toning throughout, some chipping to upper margin, closed tear on the left-hand side, 4to, mounted onto browned album page, original mailing envelope affixed to the bottom right portion, New York, 4 May 1897; with an autograph letter from American pacifist author and hymn writer William P. Merrill to Miss Gertrude Tuttle, saying "John Henry Johnson has just told me he can come, with his violin, on Thursday, Dec. 13. Can you come to play with us at 112 East, 36th Street that evening about 8 o'clock? If not, we must found someone else. But both of us prefer you to anyone else. So please come", one page, folding marks, mounted onto large album page together with the original envelope, New York, 4 December 1927 (2)
