An early 20th century Ceylonese (Sri Lankan) unmarked silver dressing table box, Kandy circa 1930
Of compressed circular form with a pull off domed lid. The lid centre with a Sinha (lion with sword) Royal emblem of the Kings of Kandy, within a scrolling border with an elephant, a horse, a lion and an ox. The sides with four vacant circular cartouches against scrolling vines and stylised flower forms. The underside with a flat chased hamsa bird regardant within foliate scrolls against a ring punched ground.
