A SMALL MINA'I POTTERY BOWL ON COBALT BLUE GROUND
Kashan, Iran, 12th - 13th century
Of typical rounded shape, resting on a gently flared foot, the body glazed in cobalt blue and overglaze painted in white, red and gold, the internal decoration consisting of floriated shapes to the centre, with a band of diamonds surrounded by vegetal trellis to the rim, a pseudo-calligraphic band on the exterior, 12cm diam. and 6cm high.
