AUTOGRAPH LETTER FROM QUEEN VICTORIA
signed ('VRI'), addressed to "Dear Chantel", on mourning stationery, reading "Many affectionate thanks for your kind letter for my birthday of the 2nd May...We returned from Florence on the 20th...it has not been very warm and the last 3 or 4 days this wind has been very cold...Georgie [second son of Edward VII and future George V ] is very happy and content and May [future Queen Mary] too. The wedding will be on the 6th (the anniversary of Louis's wedding) in London, I grieve to say, because after the.. of poor Eddy's death only 18 months ago it would have been too painful. It will be in the very ugly Chapel Royal of St James's where I was married and also Aunt Vicky", four pages, folding marks, occasional foxing, 8vo, Balmoral, 1 June 1893.
***Rare autograph letter by Queen Victoria mentioning the death of Prince Albert Victor and the marriage between his former fiancee Mary ('May') and his brother George, the new Duke of York.
