A Victorian unmarked silver 'Pneumatic Postage Damper', circa 1850 attributed to Sampson Mordan
Of tubular shape, with overall engine turn barley-corn decoration, one end to a hob-nail cut seal, the other to a glass seal, to a pull-off lid opening to reveal five more polychrome glass seals with crests.
Length - 5.5 cm / 2.16 inches
For the damping of Wafer Seals - registered design n.609 -jan 19th 1841 by Sampson Mordan.
