A SINHALESE LIDDED BOX Sri Lanka, 19th century Of rectangular shape, the domed lid hinged onto the body, the repoussé decoration consisting of a central cross-legged yogi figure flanked by two attendants with their arms raised and four peacocks, the background a triumph of scrolling vegetal tendrils, the rest of the body decorated with several rows of floral motifs, split palmettes and arabesques, the base incised with two large lotuses encased within two stylised foliate frames, 16.5cm x 7cm.
