A late 19th century Chinese Export unmarked silver milk jug, Jiujiang circa 1880 attributed to Tu Tian Xing
Qing dynasty, of lobed ‘gourd’ form with a loop handle modelled as root wood. The body with chased decoration of alternating panels of figures on horseback, flowering prunus trees, bamboo and animals within foliage, all below a meander scroll border. The spout and lower junction of handle with an applied and chased leaf.
Length – 10.2 cm / 4.1 inches
Weight – 85 grams / 2.73 ozt
We are grateful to Dr Adrien Von Ferscht for confirming the attribution to Jiujiang, and that identical jugs are known with the mark of TU TIAN XING 興天涂
