Daguerreian Unknown c.1845-48
THREE GENTLEMEN STANDING OUTDOORS, c1845-49, An extraordinary ninth plate daguerrotype, some tarnishing to the peripheries and a small spidral of damage to the plate surface toward the gentlemen's knees, in a flip top, unmarked red morroco case with single lower hinge.
The Gentlemen appear in full length stood, with tall stovepipe hats, two smoking, with one looking downwards into the palm of his hand, perhaps checking his timepiece (timing the exposure?) with a white painted, wooden hut in the background, the plate has been slightly overexposed in this area, and as such this has solarized the image in this area, giving an unusual element of spectral colourisation.
