Two Bottles of Chateau Lafite-Rothschild 1945 Pauillac, Bordeaux. Premier grand cru classe. Rich, sweet and so easy to like on the nose. Lighter in terms of weight than Latour and Mouton 1945 served alongside but the Lafite character is here, overlaid with the concentration of the 1945 vintage. Pretty good, even if the acidity is just starting to peek out from under all that ripe fruit. Another wine that would be great if it were served in isolation instead of in this line-up of Lafite, Latour and Mouton from the three most famous vintages of the mid 20th century. - Jancis Robinson Fill Level - High Shoulder (2).
