Russian and German royal family, 1880s-1890s
CARTE DE VISITE ALBUM containing 25 carte de visites, subjects include a composite of the Russian & German Royal Family showing Wilhelm I (1797-1888), Alexander II of Russia, (1818-1881), Frederick III, Emperor of Germany in 1888, Prince Friedrich Karl of Prussia (1828-1885), photographer Carl Krause & Co (active 1860s, Berlin) another of Kaiser Wilhelm on his own, his minister Otto von Bismarck (1815-1898), 2 of Helmuth von Moltke the Elder (1800-1891) the first by L. Haase & Co., Franz Joseph I Emperor of Austria-Hungary (1830-1916) and his wife Empress Elisabeth of Austria (1837-1898) and their only son Crown Prince Rudolf (1858-1889), who died in an apparent murder-suicide pact with his young mistress at Mayerling Hunting Lodge, Princess Louise Duchess of Argyll by Elliott & Fry, John Campbell, 9th Duke of Argyll, photographer Elliott and Fry (1863-1919) and the London Stereoscopic Company, others by Le Jeune, and Friedrich Haack, the album ends with 3 images of the Prince Imperial, the first as an infant by L. Haase, the other two showing him as a young man, the first at Chislehurst in 1879 and the second by Elliott & Fry, mounted in a contemporary album.
