An early 20th century Iranian (Persian) silver sugar bowl, Isfahan circa 1900-1920
Late Qajar dynasty, of inverted baluster form with a flat base, with applied C scroll handles. A removable lid with cavetto edge and domed centre surmounted by a cast bird finial. The centre with a deep chased monabbat-kari continuous frieze of figures including water carriers with dogs and a seated king with fan bearer behind, attended to by a heavenly figure, possibly Anahita. The base with a scalloped panelled border with engraved floral devices, the upper section and lid with engraved ghalam zani trailing foliage. The underside with an engraved trailing foliage border and simple lunettes. Unmarked.
