Simon Hardimé is recognised for his depictions of still-lifes of flowers. The artist studied in Antwerp under the guidence of J.B Crepu, a Walloon officer in the Spanish service and a flower painter who after retiring from military service operated a workshop in Antwerp. Notably, Hardimé became a master in the guild of St. Luke in c.1688/89 and later in his career when he had spent some time working in London, was commissioned to paint for great British aristocracy.
