An early 20th century Burmese unmarked silver betel box, Shan States circa 1900
Of cylindrical form, the pull off top section opening to reveal a plain silver lift out tray. The sides of lid with embossed decoration of chinthe within rectangular cartouches with re-entrant corners between panels of foliate scrolls, all between repeating geometric bands. The top of lid centred with an embossed recumbent creature between a band of C scrolls and foliate scrolls, the outer band similar with chinthe. The underside with a chased chinthe and a border of repeating scrolls.
