The circular white dial with baton hour markers and subsidiary dial for seconds at the 6 o'clock position, the reverse engraved with the Green family crest, to an Albert chain, suspending a pencil case by Black Star & Frost, a 9 carat gold pen knife, all engraved with the initials "A.G", and a cross potent, dial, case and movement signed Tiffany & Co., same serial number 116929 on the back case, inner dust cover and movement, Swiss high quality 3/4 plate movement produced by Patek Philippe for Tiffany & Co., pen knife with maker's mark A.D and UK hallmark, pencil signed Black Star & Frost, lengths: watch 6.7cm, chain 48.3cm (4)

Ashbel Green III (1869-1954), a graduate of Yale University, was a specialist in securities for the New York Stock Exchange in the early 20th century. Following a successful carer during WWI as an officer in US Naval Intelligence, he eventually became the 9th Secretary of the Exchange in 1928. He was the great grandson of Rev. Ashbel Green (1762-1848) who was President of Princeton University in the early 1800s. Shortly before his retirement, he bought his great-great grandfather Jacob Green's home in Hanover, New Jersey which he restored it as his own home.
