Late Qajar Iran, late 19th - early 20th century
Opaque pigments, black ink and pencil on paper, the vertical composition depicting two courtly youths drinking wine in a garden, a typical Leitmotiv of 17th-century Safavid drawings, the youth on the right slightly hesitant, the latter encouraging him to drink from a small drinking cup, the scene set within black and red rules, mounted, glazed and framed, 27cm x 19cm including the frame.
