This beautifully gestural abstract composition was left to its previous owners by the artist Tony Messenger. The work was thought to be by Richard Smith, signed and dated on the stretcher. Through research and conversation with the Richard Smith Estate, we believe the piece is not by the artist and most likely to be by the hand of Tony Messanger himself. Due to lack of firm confirmation, we are offering the piece as a great example of abstract art from the 1960s period.
