A fine late 19th century Burmese silver bowl, Rangoon circa 1890
Of rounded circular form with a fold over rim. The body with a finely embossed continuous scene of a warrior upon an elephant with an army behind, including on horseback, spears raised, leading on to a group of fifteen figures centred around a princess with a parasol held above her, three more figures before walled building, the treetops with a Bodhisattva perched on top, finally another large group of eighteen figures centred with a figure sat upon a dias with a man kneeling before him. All interspersed with trees and hills in the background. The convex upper band with chased decoration of trailing foliage, the underside with a band of stylised acanthus leaves. The underside chased with a fifteen-petal flower.
