A carved wooden South Indian statuette of a female musician, possibly Tamil Nadu, South India, late 19th century, carved in the round, mounted on a raised base with volutes and beaded motif, the musician holding a sarangi in her left hand and a small arc in the other, caught in the action of moving to the tempo as indicated by her hair curling and moving above her shoulders, 44.5cm high.
