A late 17th century Norwegian unmarked silver peg tankard, probably Bergen circa 1680
of cylindrical form, raised on three cast pomegranate feet with cast and applied leaf form junctions, the hollow C scroll handle with an upturned scroll terminal, the domed lid raised by a cast lion sejant and sphere thumbpiece. The body with embossed decoration of foliate scrolls and stylised flower heads heightened with ring punched decoration. The hinged section with textured decoration, the underside of tankard with traces of a prick-dot scroll border to the edge. The lid with similar embossed foliate decoration centred with traces of a later inscription dated 1740. The interior with four applied pegs.
