A late 19th century French 950 standard silver and enamel cigarette case, Paris circa 1896 by Paul-Eugène Marchand (reg. 3 April 1845 and 2 Oct 1849)
Of bowed rectangular form with curved corners with a satinised ground, the front inset with an enamel plaque of a female matador, signed with ligatured initials in the corner EM. The obverse with engraved inscription ‘A sur amigo Alejandro Rey Coloaco, Pablo Sarasate, Lisbaa 16 Mazzo 96’. Gilt interior. Marked to top edge, also with Lisbon mark.
