An early 20th century Cambodian silver gilt and enamel cigarette case circa 1920
Of rectangular form with a hinged lid. Each side with a hansa mythical bird in iron red enamel, all reserved with foliate scrolls edged with rosettes, with blue enamel heightened with green enamel. The lower mount marked in small letters REAU.
Length – 12.2 cm / 4.80 inches
Weight – 258 grams / 8.29 ozt
The hansa bird appeared on Cambodian coinage in the 19th century during the rein of Preah Ang Duong.
