AFTER PIETRO CALVI (ITALIAN, 1833-1884): A VERY LARGE 20TH CENTURY FAUX MARBLE BUST OF SELIKA BY REPUTE FEATURED IN THE FILM 'FUTURES VEDETTES' inscribed to the reverse P. Calvi Milano 1871, on a painted wood simulated marble column, 162cm high overall By repute this bust was used in the 1955 French film "Futures Vedettes" by Marc Allegret, starring Jean Marais (1913-1998) and Brigitte Bardot. Once the filming finished Jean Marais made it known he wished to keep the bust and it is believed the present lot was in Jean Marais' private collection till his death.
