An early 20th century Chinese export silver cigarette box later converted to jewellery casket, Shanghai circa 1925 marked Shao Ying Tang, retailed by Hung Chong
Of rectangular form with a hinged lid raised upon four compressed bun feet. The exterior with embossed decoration of bamboo attended to by birds, all reserved with spot hammered decoration. The lid centred with an oval cartouche engraved with initials BCA. Later velvet lined interior. Marked underneath with artisan mark 邵應堂 (SHAO YING TANG) and retailer’s mark HC.
