An early 20th century Burmese unmarked silver table box or casket, Upper Burma circa 1920
Of rectangular form with canted corners, a stepped gently domed pull off lid. The lid with embossed decoration of a Ramayana scene depicting Rama drawing his arrow to slay Tataka, reserved with foliate scrolls against a textured and ring punches ground, the chamfered sides with various animals; lion, a Nāga a dragon like mythical beast, a chinthe, an elephant, rats, all interspersed with stylised betel leaves. The sides with embossed vignettes of seated pairs of figures, in between foliate scrolls, the corner sections with foliate scrolls. The underside chased with a symbol of a bird of prey.
