Arms, Armour and Militaria

Lot 140

This unusual light cavalry officer's sabre may be Italian or Austrian and features a 32 1/2 inch service-sharpened curved blade with 'cat's claw' clipped-point. The hilt exhibits an overall British or Austrian shape, with proto-beaknose pommel, which may indicate a date of around 1810-1820. There are marquise-shaped langets and the grip is ribbed horn. (1)
