MONTI Sept 1871 / CERAMIC / CRYSTAL PALACE ART UNION/ COPELAND' 34cm high Raffaele Monti is perhaps most famous for his bust of a veiled vestal, which was first carved for the 6th Duke of Devonshire. The veiled vestal or 'Veiled Bride' as it became known as, was also issued as a Parian bust in 1861 by the Crystal Palace Art Union.
