Opaque pigments heightened with gold on paper, the large vertical composition depicting one of the most beloved couples in Indian culture, Krishna and Radha, depicted together with a halo and standing on lotus pedestals surrounded by the gopis (cowherd girls) of Krishna's village in Govardhan, in the foreground a lotus pond, the scene set within black and white rules, and concentric yellow, cobalt blue and purple borders, the recto backed with an upside-down railway passenger ledger dated 1881, featuring an old inventory sticker of S.
