A late 19th / early 20^th century Chinese export silver dish on stand, Canton circa 1900, marked Ren Xin, possibly retailed by Cum Wo of Hong Kong

Qing dynasty. The dished top section formed as a hexalobed flower form, upon a cut sheet and wire work base formed as three sunflowers, adjoining a chased domed section textured as earth, all upon a carved hardwood stand, with pierced scrolls. The dished section with chased panels of alternating bamboo, chrysanthemums, and flowering prunus, all against a textured ground. Marked to retaining nut only with artisan mark 仁信 (REN XIN), and retailer’s mark possibly CW (double struck).

This artisan mark has been recorded on a pair of small beakers bearing the retailer’s mark of Cum Wo of Hong Kong, illustrated Devereux Kernan, K. (1985), The Chait Collection of Chinese Export Silver. New York: Chait Galleries. P. 34, f. 15.

It has also been noted on a bowl retailed by Taylor and Co of Hong Kong (private collection)
