Newton 1843 Watercolour on ivory Wood frame with gilded card slip Rectangular 12.3 cm (4.8 in) high Provenance: Bonhams, London, 10th April 2002 In 1831 Newton was appointed miniature-painter in ordinary to William IV and Queen Adelaide, and from 1837 to 1858 held the same post under Queen Victoria. He was knighted in 1837.
