Zhang Qianying was a student of Xu Beihong and studied at Art at Nanjing University. Won a scholarship at the Slade school of Art London, and lived in Britain for the next 50 years where she became a member of Royal Academy, Royal Society of Painters in watercolour and the Society of Women Artist. Christian Dior commissioned her to design silk pattern for his clothes.
