An early 20th century Burmese silver jar, probably Mandalay dated 1915
Or rounded tapering form with a short cylindrical neck. The body with embossed decoration of single figures in traditional dress within shaped architraves, each reserved with texture ‘wallpaper’ patterns, each interspersed with foliate scrolls, all above a band of stylised acanthus leaves. The curved shoulder section with chased foliate scrolls with rosettes. The underside chased in Burmese script with date (1277). Lid presumably absent.
